Story
Called to the Arts, founded in 2021 by Deshay Land, is a nonprofit organization devoted to empowering individuals and communities through the performing arts.
Its mission is to inspire, educate, and uplift artists of all ages and backgrounds by providing workshops, mentorship, and performance opportunities that foster both skill and personal growth.
Believing that everyone has a story worth sharing, the organization creates inclusive spaces that celebrate diverse voices and make the arts accessible to all, especially those in underserved communities. Called to the Arts views creativity as a catalyst for positive change, using the power of artistic expression to build connection, resilience, and hope.
Ultimately, the organization seeks to ignite passion, inspire transformation, and remind everyone that we are all called to the arts.
About the Scholarship
Scholarship Details:

Award Amount: $500 towards AMDC tuition

Eligibility: Open to Saturday class students and competition team members

Requirements: Applicants must complete a scholarship application and submit a short essay.

Selection Process: Essays will be reviewed by a panel of judges.

Announcement: The scholarship winner will be announced at the AMDC Showcase-December 13!
This is a meaningful opportunity for our dancers to reflect on their journey, share their artistic purpose, and be recognized for their dedication both on and off the dance floor.
Applications and essay prompts are now open, and all submissions must be received by November 29th, 2025.

At AMDC, we believe dance is more than movement — it’s a journey of growth, confidence, creativity, and community. Each dancer carries her own story, and this scholarship is designed to support those who show passion, dedication, and heart both inside and outside the studio.
Essay Prompt:
In your own words, share why you believe your daughter deserves to receive the AMDC Scholarship. Tell us about her journey with AMDC — how dance has shaped her character, confidence, or purpose. Highlight the ways she demonstrates commitment, leadership, and a positive attitude that reflects AMDC’s values of excellence, sisterhood, and creativity. Lastly, share how receiving this scholarship would impact her continued growth as both a dancer and a young woman.
